Well, looks as if my hosts server got hacked. First time for this hosting co and nothing was really damaged. Just some screwing around. All fixed now.

In this commentary Strange New World: No ‘Star Trek’ Orson Scott Card claims ‘Star Trek’ was “poorly imagined, weakly written, badly acted” and questions “Why did it last so long?”. He goes on to speculate that most people weren’t reading good science fiction. When they saw ‘Star Trek’ it was their first initiation into the science fiction world. While there may be some truth to that I was in fact reading science fiction by all the good writers he mentions. The more likely explanation is ‘Star Trek’ was the first good visualization of science fiction on TV. I found it fascinating at the time. Sure one can go back and pick at the “cheesy special effects” but at the time they were not bad for TV. The problem with ‘Star Trek’ now is the poor writing and direction given it by the present handlers. There is still a place for ‘Star Trek’ but it’s going to need better writing and acting.

Wow, I didn’t realize it had been so long since I last updated this thing. Guess that shows just how little goes on in my life! I kinda put the PVR project on hold as the output from the video card is just not up to snuff. Compared to the output from the Direct TV receiver it’s fuzzy and washed out. I plan to try tweaking it or get a vga to S3 video converter and take the video from the vga connector. But, I’m tired of fooling with it for now.I’ve been to a couple of more SASBA tournaments and cashed at both. If I can just manage to get a little higher up in the standing I could break even and get to go to a lot more! Toward that end I’ve been getting in a lot more practice which results in less time for things like the PVR project.

I just watched what may be one of the stupidest movies ever made. Charlie’s Angels:Full Throttle. The first movie was kinda entertaining but this one was just stupid.
